I find all this "colonialism" talk mystifying. I mean, weren't virtually all the Arabs under the Ottoman empire until 1918? The period of Western colonialism in most Arab places lasted only for a period of time approximately equal to the Carter administration to today. There was a lot of fooling around in Egypt, but otherwise I don't see the Arab lands as being indelibly marked by western colonialism. And in the subcontinent, the Hindus were subject to colonialism just as much as the moslems. So can someone explain what the actual acts of colonialism were that are the problem? Like with times and dates and places?
