Default Amy's legacy

Amy Winehouse died at the age of 27.

Her untreated psychiatric problems, booze and drugs were more powerful than her.

Quote:
The singer was found dead Saturday at age 27 by ambulance crews called to her home in north London's Camden area, a youth-culture mecca known for its music scene, its pubs - and the availability of illegal drugs. She joins the ranks of drug-addled rock stars Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison, who died at the same age.
Rehab: no, no, no.

Her unusual (for these times) talent makes her story even closer to Janis'.

Darn! What's with that female voice style and tragic outcomes for women?

But, yes, you're right. It could be seen coming. Very sad for those who tried to help her and saw her free falling.

Edroso had a moving post on this tragedy:

Quote:
When she started to fall, some of us thought it was something her talent, or some innate respect for it, would pull her back from. When she stayed down, some of us still couldn't take it seriously. Now the seriousness is inescapably proven, and along with the regret that comes with the passing of any major artist, I feel regret that it took this to convince me. Celebrities aren't friends, and we're not obliged to act as if they were. In fact it's presumptuous to do so. But, generally speaking, it's never a good thing to treat the sufferings of another human being as if they were unimportant.

I can't even imagine a clean and sober Amy, tortured soul to the end. But at least she did leave something great behind.
