Re: Foreign Policy Centerfolds (Heather Hurlburt & Dan Drezner)
Thanks, y'all -- Doesn't calling Iraq and Afghanistan one war give the neocons much too much credence? Al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq; Saddam wasn't closely linked with Al Qaeda; the US went there to remove Saddam and further other assorted neocon aims. (The objection that Al Qaeda isn't in Afghanistan much anymore either only strengthens my point.) And I loved the session I had with Bacevich, and respect him immensely -- but someone who thinks the gender and racial liberation movements of the 1960s are responsible for our social problems today does not count in any way as "to my left."
