Let's take the counterfactual: Obama does everything Brink says, which is basically nothing (school uniforms? vchip?). No health care, no stimulus, no auto bankruptcy, no finreg. And unemployment is 13% (the stimulus is worth about 3%). Would the midterms have been better or worse for Democrats? Fox News called Obama socialist for Romneycare, and they would have called him a socialist if he'd implemented the Brink Lindsay agenda.
The America People don't care about the deficit. People don't even know how much it or the debt actually is within an order of magnitude. Only Brink cares about it. He's a violator of Lambchop's law:
