This claim seems fraught with risk to me, unless the study author(s) corrected for possible correlation between diversity and mobility. I don't know, but it seems plausible to me that neighborhoods that are more homogeneous are that way because the same people have lived there for a longish time. More diverse neighborhoods may be that way due to recent immigration/emigration. High/low social capital may be more a function of length of relationships than degree of diversity. |
