So Bernard is broadly skeptical of the US getting more involved
in the Gulf's security. While Habiba signals agreement, the skepticism she articulates really is limited to the level of implementation and execution. I would have liked for Bernard challenge Habiba a bit more on that score, and get her to elaborate on the "existential threats" she hints at.
I get it that small Gulf states want the US to pick up the tab for their security
, but it's far from clear to me that this is a good deal for the US.
