Honestly, I think it's just a signpost about how much people try to enforce conformity on the parenting process.
Hence the need to weigh in on things that we aren't terribly involved in -- because we all remember how powerless we were during our own childhoods and we imagine that, as adults, we can ride to the rescue of kids who are being mistreated today.
On the list of ways that parents screw up their kids sex lives, I bet circumcision doesn't even make the top 10. Moms and dads do a plenty good job of inducing guilt and shame on the organ that really matters.
