2, Even when she could make something out, she often wanted to offer her own treatise in parallel. I think she knows too much about the subject, and has a hard time resisting adding her own insights in. This is normally fine, it just broke up the flow too much.
Actually, I think a lot of the time she was just asking Michael to clarify a point because he was being obscure or using terminology that the audience might not be familiar with. But Michael somehow thought that she was arguing with him, so he would shut her down. Often I thought he would have benefited from listening to Melody's requests for clarification.
