There are several mass graves for Tamils in Sri-Lanka which are unearthed. matthew r lee is either very naive and foolish or he is a paid stooge of the ltte. the situation in sri lanka cannot be compared to darfur. it is not an apples to oranges comparison at all. sri lanka is fighting a global terrorist organization (not rebels, terrorists) who are holding the civilians hostage as human shields. the terrorists are limited to a 60 sq. km area in the island's north. if the Sri Lankan military had no concern for civilian casualties, that tiny sliver of land would have been captured weeks ago. in light of the civilians and the humanitarian situation in the war zone the military and the govt are proceeding slowly despite increased risk to the military and civilians in the rest of Sri Lanka from LTTE terrorist attacks.

Why is Mr. Lee not concerned about the rest of the 17 million civilians in sri lanka that have endured terrorist attacks for the last 30 years? Why is he not demanding the LTTE and it's front organizations to release the civilians? Why would the UN need to interfere in a sovereign state's attempt to destroy terrorism, just as the US govt does. Did the UN ask for a ceasefire in iraq or afghanistan? How about when the FBI was massacring Branch Dravidians?

The conflict in Sri Lanka is going on for last 61 years from the date British left. There were thousands of Tamils were killed by Sinhalese mobs & government forces in 1958. SO DON'T THE VIDEOS AND PICTURES TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH?

Rarely, simply because only interested parties to the conflict are vouching for their authenticity. Recent images the Tigers say are from the war zone are a good example. The bloody pictures usually come from a single e-mail, said to be that of a government doctor. There is no way to prove that or even when or where the pictures were taken. The government says the doctor is doing the LTTE's bidding. The photos almost simultaneously pop up on TamilNet and other websites sympathetic to the LTTE, and are emailed to news organizations. The government also publishes photos and videos of captured weapons, dead Tiger fighters and combat, and has its own partisans out in cyberspace who forward emails and photos and try to deconstruct LTTE images. Like the LTTE material, there is no way to prove their authenticity.

A slave camp consisting male and female members 'chosen' from the fleeing civilians by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) is reportedly setup in the abandoned Kilinochchi hospital building, citing unverified information reaching Mullaiththeevu from males who escaped from the camp.
