Is it possible to believe that McCain knew Bristol was pregnant when he picked her mom for VP?

Dunno, but this just goes to show her daughter's pro-drilling, too!

You got to be kidding! Is this bloggingheadstv or "The National Enquier?"

Whew, Josh finally got off the Sarah Palin topic. I agree with much of what he said about her. I did get a chuckle when he said part of Obama's experience was writing 2 books. If that counts as experience then Senator Moynihan should have been the President of the World since his writings were voluminous.

Hey, Senator Obama won his primary, is inspirational and will probably be the next pres. He is extraordinarily talented, is a man with plan, and is executing it brillantly.

No, actually, I think roger2008 is a comment-spammer. If you look at his comment and also find the one by sam2008 in another thread, you'll see that both contain a link pointing to the same site, both "users" have only made one comment, and the text of both comments is naively relevant to the surrounding comments, probably for reasons of camouflage.

I have reported the two comments, but the overlords appear to be at the Comment Nanny's for a weekend barbecue, no doubt celebrating the massive increase in site traffic due to a new policy of All Palin, All The Time.

Thank the FSM for Science Saturday is all I can say.

Oh, not that FSM!

I am an agnostic that hopes that there is something else besides just random interactions of matter and energy.

I am just a little amused with Astrophysicists that are postulating the existence of "Dark Matter" and "Dark Energy" at the same time that they deny the existence anything "spiritual".

Sorry for rambling on....

Why? What relationship do you see between the things named and spirituality? "Dark matter" and "dark energy" are ways to refer to things about which there's quite a lot of evidence, but insufficient understanding. Much like "quasars" thirty or forty years ago, there are phenomena to be explained - the project proceeds apace.

Just like Physics require the gradual acquisition and careful interpretation of knowledge, perhaps the "Mind" requires the same kind of discipline to understand that which makes us "be".

Just like I could never get my dog to understand Algebra, some of us can never understand why we exist.

Well, that they are postulating makes a difference, doesn't it? They've got a set of observations, part of can't be explained in terms of existing theory. So, they come up with a coherent way to explain the new parts and try to make some predictions based on this new thinking, much in the same way last century's physicists proposed up-till-then undiscovered particles to explain other poorly understood phenomena.

I don't see what that has to do with spirituality, unless you're using a definition so broad as to include speculation, extrapolation, and imagination.

Nice. Wasn't sure if anyone would pick up on that. Btw- I saw that there is a new biography about Clemente at bookstores now. Looks good but I'm always a little hesitant to read sports biographies (there are so many terrible ones out there.)

Many of us are just Pigs that don't wear lipstick.......!!!!

On a "serious" note, Barbara Oakley has 2 podcasts at "Point of Inquiry"

http://www.pointofinquiry.org/barbar...nd_human_evil/

She has a different analysis on Milgram and Zimbardo's experiments.

I listened to the talks. Are they the same or was I too sleepy?

Oakley has good criticism about the research, but not balanced. She also makes some gross mistakes when talking about personality disorders. I think her understanding about the topic is very limited. Obviously she has no training in a discipline that would allow her to have a deeper understanding, but then she shouldn't talk with such authority. In sum, not bad, but not someone I would listen to for long. Did you read her book?

No quorum I guess. Pirate stuff may appear beneath the smart monkey's brain power.

That's, of course, for those who don't know the secret that humor is all there is. Everything else is peanuts to keep the silly monkeys distracted while the real party goes on...

Arghhh!

And a vegetarian version for some of us. How about "Grandpa Barack's Arugula Soup"?

Nah, it won't work. We better start planning a post election celebration party...
