I am not denying that she can sound offensive, but I think we have to deal with the problem regardless if someone's wagging their finger and telling people how good their culture is. To quote John McWhorter, the system is not perfect but there are things low income blacks (and for that matter everyone in today's economy) can do help themselves to be in a better position. #1 is education, it is now a prerequisite, whether it is a trade, associates degree, or bachelors, or post graduate.
What is also missing from these conversation is the achievement gap between black girls and black boys, this may contribute to the wedlock crisis.
At the same time, we still need people to point out society's prejudice when you have the unemployment rate for blacks with a college degree noticeable higher than those of whites.
