I used to comment on Althouse's site (as LonewackoDotCom, based on an old domain name). It was a fairly civil place for a few years, until she decided to go full-on Teaparty. Then, commenters would show up who, instead of trying to present a valid counter-argument to my anti-TP comments, would just lie and smear. Some of her commenters even set out to get me to stop leaving comments there. In one case, I had to contact the authorities about a criminal threat, and that's the first time I've ever had to do that after leaving thousands of comments on all types of sites since 2002.

And, all of that happened under Althouse's watchful eye. She's the last person who should be talking about civility.

P.S. I came here via a link on her buddy Instapundit's site. On two occasions, Glenn Reynolds hid behind a fake name ("Hit and Run") to tell me to "STFU". So, given that and what else he's promoted in the past (see the link), he shouldn't be talking about civility either.
