Default Re: Mona Eltahawy ...

The tweet from Mona reminded me that Heather Macdonald would reserve judgement on alleged sexual assault. Heather would like to wait for Mona's blog output to suffer before deciding if that was the case.

Default Tim Noah

This is very minor news indeed, but I particularly enjoyed a recent turn of phrase from Tim Noah. In discussing John Kyl's voting against the senate republicans' payroll tax proposal, he noted "a certain kind of stubborn integrity under the twin pressures of common sense and political expediency."

Agree or disagree with his assessment, but there's a real music there:

The supplicant line is deserved based on reading the article.

Default Congratulations to the father of Ryan Shaw-Hayes!

(And the mother, too, of course, even though she is not a 'head.)

Video welcome here.

Default Andrew Revkin ...

... in an extended e-conversation with Naomi Klein, regarding her recent cover story for The Nation, “Capitalism vs. the Climate.”

Andrew:

Quote:
Whether you embrace or dispute her conclusions, the article is a worthy and substantive provocation. I disagree with her in pretty profound ways, yet some of her points echo my assertion awhile back that greenhouse-driven climate change is “not the story of our time” but a symptom of much deeper issues.
