Re: Miss Alaska
If McCain had chosen Romney or Pawlenty, the Press’ reaction would have been “Ho Hum -- Now Back to Obama”! It’s obvious that McCain was forced into offering up some pizzazz and Palin fit the bill. I thought that her convention speech was sassy and grass roots appealing and her family was achingly cute. I don’t think that Sally Quinn or Maureen Dowd will be satisfied though.
CNBC ran a Bartoromo interview with Palin from a few weeks ago and my reaction was Boy, that girl can talk! She came off as intelligent but with a common touch on that show and also on a few clips from an L. Kudlow appearance on that station. It seems that she will do fine in interviews regarding style but her depth of knowledge is yet to be determined. She is bound to make some gaffes along the way.
I believe that Dems have some reason to be wary of what effect she will have on the electorate and won't be able to simply ignore her as some have suggested. Attacking her on the lack of experience front is also tricky given that Obama (who is running for position #1 and not #2) has a similarly thin resume.
