Re: Aw, Nuts
I believe that Obama missed a real opportunity to exhibit magnanimity at the NAACP conference when he pretty much threw Jesse Jackson under the bus with his declaration of "I'm not going to stop talking about it". I understand why Obama would be miffed at the prospect of an impending cajonectomy but feel that a more gracious. less confrontational response would have been more in keeping with his harmony theme, while helping to salvage a bit of Jackson's dignity.
Excluding New Yorker reporter, Ryan Lizza, from his European trip also seems petty. Here again he blew a perfect opportunity to exhibit high mindedness. After all, Lizza's article was not overly critical. Although it revealed behind the scenes political machinations and some unflattering aspects of O's personality, it could have delved deeper into his relationships with other Chicago figures etc. Whenever I have seen Lizza on TV, he literally gushed his approval of Obama and all that he stood for. But he is after all a reporter and had to maintain some career-wise objectivity. That bus bottom is getting mighty crowded!
