Default Re: The Week in Blog: Politics Ain't Indie Rock (Bill Scher & Matt Lewis)

Matt says basically "Just because the masses like something doesn't mean its good". So why do the masses in the conservative movement prefer these low brow commentators like Hannity and Levin? Its the elephant in the room. Could it be the majority of Conservatives are low brow? Not all by any means but probably a majority. I know it hurts to consider a movement you're in is dominated by people who look down on intellectuals and would rather hear what they feel in their gut repeated over and over even if the facts on the ground point out they are wrong. How could you not side with Manzi on this 100%? Levins book was full of inaccuracies. Whats to debate? You've made your bed by not calling out earlier popular radio conservative talk show hosts who spout basically propaganda just to win elections. I think Matt feels a little foolish on the inside but if he comes out and says the Hannity's of the world are just side shows he risks his income because at the end of the day GOP voters are more loyal to those radio guys then they are to the conservative party ideals which honest factual debate used to be a part of its core.
