Default Re: The Week in Blog: Bail Me Out, Buttercup

If Heritage and others are going to use the ~$70/hr wage for the big three autoworkers (which includes lumping all the pension money and health care expenditures for the next 30 years into a lump sum and dividing the total by the number of working hours), and then comparing it to, for instance, the US autoworker in the South working in non-union shops, then at least for fairness, they should include in the lump sum for these workers the amount of TAX BREAKS the states have given the auto companies to locate their industries in their states. These TAX BREAKS are TAXPAYER FUNDED from the States TAX DOLLARS, (but are not ever considered as a bail-out paid by the taxpayers). Also included should be the Medicaid for those workers and their families who have to rely on state/federal funded programs to make up for the health care they are not getting from the companies.
