It is ironic that one of the times Newt Gingrich blunders into the truth, he is pummled. The right has a large contingent of social enginners, neo-liberals that are not against big government at all, but want big government intervention on their issues, such as i-card, US-Mexico border monitoring systems, and various social agenda issues. When the Republicans have had the power, there is never a reduction in the government; only the method to pay for the government is shifted from taxes to borrowing. No matter their rhetoric, Republicans in power increase governmental administration and costs at the Federal level.
