Thanks for the link. I'm a big fan of his from his Village Voice days through the Marsalis/Crouch jazz pedestal promoting and various miscellaneous videos/interviews. He always inspires me to measure my assumptions against his take on things. And rarely fails to provide at least one completely uncheckable or seemingly absurd point per article or interview. In this case, he said to Brian Lamb, something along the lines of "There hasn't been a smarter intellect than Barack Obama since at least 1900." He may have misspoke, or meant president specifically... who knows? Or that Obama is deficient by being all about rhythm 'n blues instead of jazz. I believe it, even if I'm not sure what it means. But his improvisational delivery and obvious chops has me hooked.

Thanks. I always like hearing him - even when I disagree. Love him on Jazz, NYC, race, etc. His political talk though is always a mishmash of the good, the bad, and the just plain crazy.

This interview was no different. Beck is a comedian but Maddow is the "most brilliant mind on TV". Really?

I think Stanley's a little closer to Beck than he realizes.
