So do I - but fortunately or unfortunately Ronald Reagan imposed an extremely high-cost one on the country when he signed into law that no emergency room could refuse treatment. Given that we now "all agree" that we need a universal system, let's look at systems around the world that work best and that we might transition to.
Old people cost the most money. By low-cost, I mean we take care of all Americans until age 18. After that, you're on your own. Save your money slowly for retirement and medical services, or blow it all in Vegas. I don't care.
France is high cost, but lower than America. Lower than high cost, is still high cost.
