Default Re: Small Won (Mark Schmitt & Brink Lindsey)

Oh Brink, is it really so hard to agree with Liberals, just for once? So Brink can't stay on board for the Stimulus, or HCR, or Cap & Trade, because the former was hopelessly full of corruption and whatever, and the latter because they are full of the dread Big Government and fail to conform to Brink's idiosyncratic, politically impossible policy ideas.

It's increasingly difficult to believe Libertarians when they insist that they agree with Liberal ends but disagree with Liberal means, yet fail to come around when Liberals accommodate their preferences. auctioned Cap & Trade really is a market-friendly, econ 101 solution to the problem of AGW, and the current health care reform really is the market-friendly alternative to Single Payer. But have Libertarians gotten behind either of these policies, or even adopted a constructive critical approach in which they try to push Waxman-Markley towards more auctioned permits, or rebating the money instead of spending it on other government projects? Of course not, folks like Brink just content themselves with complaining about how the whole system is corrupt and nobody is willing to take their points seriously.
