Re: A View From Gaza (Robert Wright & Bassam Nasser)

I don't think this particular quote was influential, but I think Weizmann is referring to "a people" meaning a tribe/nation. There weren't many Turks living there, and the Arabs there had been, and...

Re: A View From Gaza (Robert Wright & Bassam Nasser)

Yes, and neither were the two Battles of Fallujah, right? With all the insurgents and civilians the United States killed -- WAY more civilians died in the 2nd Battle than in Cast Lead, and possibly...

Re: Gaza -- a comparitive perspective, a reality check

Re: Gaza -- a comparitive perspective, a reality check

No, that's misrepresenting me.

Gaza -- a comparitive perspective, a reality check

Please check this article in the Economist -- not a pro-Israel paper:

The situation looks far from dire. Read any article on South Sudan...

Sam Bahour & Bernard Avishai could form their own viable state

As for questions of private business opportunies in Gaza or the West Bank, it's hard to know whether to trust either of these guys.

Re: don't agree with Kirchik but Matt seemed naive about Iran

Seyoyo,
To my mind, you're just rephrasing the notion of "good faith."

It's true that you've added the element of a guarantee of not being invaded, but Iran knows that if it makes a deal on...

don't agree with Kirchik but Matt seemed naive about Iran

The whole idea that Iran isn't accepting entreaties because it senses there is no "good faith" on the part of the Bush administration is pretty weak in several ways.

One is that it doesn't conform...
