Wow, what a great point. I can tell you that out in the community there is a great deal of hesitation to call out quacks. Part of this is fear---will I get sued for "defaming" a quack?

I think that conflates two separate ideas. I'm sure there has ever been much of a utilitarian bent in medicine---that is, i think you give some of the more frightening researchers too much...
