Re: Science Saturday: Celestial Couch Potatoes (John Horgan & George Johnson)

Nothing Bob has said has led me to believe that a Harvard rock star like Steven Pinker wouldn't reappear. Or even a peripheral smarty like Yigal Schleifer on Turkey. Lotta doom, and not much to back...

Re: Science Saturday: Celestial Couch Potatoes (John Horgan & George Johnson)

What is George slurping? Some kind of flax-seed broth?

Re: Values Added: Refuted By Facts (Mark Kleiman & Harold Pollack)

This looks good. Wish BHTV had an East Asian policy guy's take on Kim Jung-Il, but it's a big world and I'm greedy.

Re: Designed To Elicit Crazy Edition (Benjy Sarlin & Daniel Foster)

Absent such signals and incremental escalation, the two-handed scenario becomes less plausible. Still, Cain has a problem.

Re: Values Added: Salacious Details (Allison Hoffman & Michael B. Dougherty)

That was my first thought, too. One hand under the skirt, another on the back of the woman's head or neck. Not impossible, of course, but more likely a conflation of events, or non-events.

Re: Reach Out and Touch Someone (Evan Smith & Joshua Trevino)

Thank you for bringing this up. Their certainty about Perry now seems, well, insane. For those who missed it, search for the topic "Friendless Losers of the Political Class" for a good laugh.

Re: The Week in Blog: For Pete's Sake Edition (Bill Scher & Matt Lewis)

Not sure I follow. Aren't Gadhafi's WMD now held in Oak Ridge, Tenn.?

Re: Television Politics (Alyssa Rosenberg & Chloe Angyal)

Swing for the fences much? These things are impossible to quantify, of course, and your perceived "change" is stone wrong, but in terms of social critique, "The Simpsons" does land comfortably at the...

Re: War, Debt, and Drugs (Glenn Greenwald & Ilya Somin)

Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Stephanie. Aristotle's Physics is indeed not the law of the U.S. And I would be asleep at the switch not to acknowledge that some Federalist Papers can be...

Re: War, Debt, and Drugs (Glenn Greenwald & Ilya Somin)

And Aristotle's assertion that men have more teeth than women is a source relevant to the interpretation of his "physics."

The Federalist is an occasionally incoherent collection of political...

Re: War, Debt, and Drugs (Glenn Greenwald & Ilya Somin)

Wasn't aware the the Federalist Papers is a governing document. Thanks for clearing that up.

Re: Lessons Learned: Terrorism and Politics (David Schanzer & Eli Lake)

One hundred sixty-eight victims in OKC say you're not serious. Take just one city Tucson, for instance. Not a single American in Tucson egged on the 9/11 terrorists? Reading is fundamental.

Re: Values Added: Perrytastic Edition (Amy Sullivan & Sarah Posner)

Amy, unfortunately, sounds like "Alf" talking through a half-gallon mason jar. Barely intelligible.

Re: Lessons Learned: Terrorism and Politics (David Schanzer & Eli Lake)

Thank you, David and Eli, for an excellent discussion. I'm all for killing our enemies, but revisiting the Sept. 14 Authorization for the Use of Military Force resolution from time to time would be...

Re: Independents Day (Matt Welch & Nick Gillespie)

Interesting. I wasn't aware American Airlines handled less than 10 percent of passenger air traffic in the U.S.

Re: Political Philosophy and Wilt Chamberlain (Matthew Yglesias & Julian Sanchez)

Few here have actually read Wilt's autobiography. I have. Allow me to distill it:

I wore a rubber band around my wrist that my opponents snapped so as to get into my head.

I cried when I...

Re: The Postmodern Sex Scandal (Dana Goldstein & Amanda Marcotte)

Once I learned of Marcotte's cowardly retreat from her Duke rugby allegations, she lost all credibility for me. Next.

Re: Free Air Conditioning Edition (Mark Schmitt & Kevin D. Williamson)

I don't think Palin stands a chance in a general election either, but since when do you need 51 percent of the electorate to win the White House, Mark? The popular vote is irrelevant.

Re: Worldwise: Turkey and the Arab Spring (Steven A. Cook & Mustafa Akyol)

His torrent of equivocations in the last 4 minutes of the diavlog leave me with this impression. The better part of me wants to believe he's presenting a "nuanced" view of Turkish politics, but what...
