Well put. I'm afraid I have to agree, but I do wonder why radicals do so often have more clout than their ideas support. I guess when a problem seems intractable, the sexy thing to do is cut the knot...

In comparison to the Alterman and Hitchens the debate between Levy and Frum does engage with the current issues, and it does attempt to deal with current problems, and they don't dwell on their view...

I still think invading Iraq was the wrong course of action, but I'm still unsure on what we should have done instead. Hypotheticals are useful to generate debate but they do little to light the way...
