Re: Socialist Cat Edition (Maureen Tkacik & Megan McArdle)

No kidding. What a nightmare. What possible reason can there be for bhtv continuing to invite Tkacik back?!

Re: It's Hot (Tim Fernholz & Conn Carroll)

"I have not seen any evidence that the NAACP is involved."

He says, shortly after having made clear he hasn't made the slightest bit of effort to learn anything about the issue.

Re: A Half-Hearted Onslaught (Tim Noah & Byron York)

"People pay into a fund."

Yes, it is insurance, which means they premiums that were calibrated to the benefit. Saying "they paid into it, so therefore there's nothing welfare-like about extending...

Re: Epistemologically Modest Edition (Michelle Goldberg & Ramesh Ponnuru)

Ramesh makes a good point. Honestly, I think most New Yorkers/coastal dwellers would be surprised to realize how little most "heartlanders" think about them at all. Perhaps except to say, "My Lord,...

Re: The Boss, the Decision, and the Economy (Mark Schmitt & Stephen Spruiell)

This is a great pairing. They pick their battles, unlike too many right/left pairings in which they're constantly interrupting each other to argue with every single statement they disagree with.

Re: We're All So Easy to Hate (Maureen Tkacik & Lizz Winstead)

I don't care so much that it felt "private", but that it was excruciating to listen to. Click on the Munn segment: in the first 30 seconds, we get 5 "ums", 3 "you knows" and 3 "likes" from Tkacik....

Re: Slow Bleed (Annie Lowrey & Mike Konczal)

Good discussion. I like that Annie made sure to stop and summarize what Frannie and Freddie were -- in this case I knew, but in analogous situations in other BHs on topics that are more far afield...

Re: Meet a Tea Partier (Robert Wright & Rob Neppell)

"Even if it were captured, most people at this event would not have wanted to share it with the world."

Oh, lord. How do leaks like this usually happen? It isn't any one person deciding to share...

Re: Sex, Power, Happiness (Michelle Goldberg & Rebecca Traister)

Traister's point about the lack of set paths meaning that no matter what a woman chooses, there will be another woman telling her (perhaps indirectly, via column/blog post) it will make her unhappy...

Christ, Scher, can you learn to stop constantly laughing at your own comments?

Re: Hippie Goon Squad Edition (Matthew Yglesias & Stephen Spruiell)

Hmm, I'm not sure how wise it was for BHTV to pair up two people who clearly loathe each other.

Re: Chess Moves (Glenn Greenwald & David Frum)

Thank you two for addressing the horrific abuse in the blogosphere of the term "epistemic closure". Andrew Sullivan, take note: "epistemic closure" does not mean "general derogatory term for any...

Re: The Week in Blog: A Constant Battle Against Idiots (Andrew Golis & Matt Lewis)

It was a perfectly fine BH, but didn't The Week in Blog tend to be more focused on what other blogs were actually talking about? The last two between these guys has been very "my life as a blogger"...

McWhoury! Without a doubt the best bloggingheads pairing.

Re: A Quest for Meaning (Tim Noah & Rich Lowry)

Would Noah consider the people who compared Bush to Hitler (http://semiskimmed.net/bushhitler.html) to be an "undeniable whack-job component" of dissent on the left?

Re: Political Matter and Antimatter (Jon Chait & Ramesh Ponnuru)

Oh dear, you've been reading too much Ezra Klein and Andrew Sullivan if you think that "epistemic closure" is an all-purpose derogatory term for trying to dismiss any comment that you disagree with....

Re: Political Matter and Antimatter (Jon Chait & Ramesh Ponnuru)

If you're correct, then Chait's comment is even more vacuous than I originally thought. So he's criticizing people who don't share the political leanings of NPR, NYT, etc. for making stronger...

Re: Political Matter and Antimatter (Jon Chait & Ramesh Ponnuru)

Wait, is Chait honestly arguing that liberals don't accuse Fox of being "propaganda organs for the Republican party"? See Andrew Sullivan, Jon Stewart, etc.

So the criticism conservatives make of...

Re: The Week in Blog: A Place of Harmony (Annie Lowrey & Matt Lewis)

I will be interested to read here about other members' impressions of Annie Lowrey's performance as compared to the last guest who appeared on TWIB.

Content was OK, but there needs to be some...

Re: Percontations: The Nature of Probability (Eliezer Yudkowsky & Andrew Gelman)

Again, I'm not a Bayesian, I'd just prefer to not see people -- especially those who identify as "classical probabilists" -- reveal a total lack of knowledge about the field they're criticizing.

My sense is that there is a fundamental sickness at the heart of Bayesianism. The sickness is the lack of rigor.
