Matt's Nobel Prize-worthy insight

Ooh, the scales fall from my eyes. In a flash the whole field of economics (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/35937?in=15:55&out=16:01) makes sense to me.

I'll say it again . . .

not that it makes a wavicle of difference: Bob just seems so sad to me (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/30297?in=00:38&out=00:47).

Draft blastocytes, not students!

Jim invokes (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/30462?in=41:19&out=41:30) the Powell Doctrine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powell_Doctrine) in the war against Alzheimer's.

Re: Hey mister, my eyes are up here!

A thousand thanks. I'd rather have the 'look' any day -- no offense to Aryeh. ;) I was afraid I was being too obscure.

Hey mister, my eyes are up here!

What is obvious (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/30431?in=37:29&out=37:35) to Heather may not be to us.

Limited help for purged Libertarians

Heather and Dan muse about what they can't supply (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/30431?in=40:27&out=40:50) to Brink and Will after (maybe) being ousted from Cato. They reminded me of this...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

I wanted to add that I don't have wholehearted admiration for Capote, either. The film Capote dramatized the ruthless, cold-blooded way that he insinuated himself into the lives of the killers,...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

(Empahsis added)

Wonderful, sleepy, that goes right to the heart of the matter. I didn't hear admiration from either of them, but much more so from Liz. I heard bemused consternation, amounting to...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

I'll take your word for it, Middling.

So what's your point? That exuding effeminate, mincing, lisping behavior makes one an artist? Or demonstrates one's sensitivity? Sorry, that doesn't...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

Well, there's certainly a lot of truth in what you say, stephanie, and I appreciate your comments. I would like to do a thought experiment with you, though, to see if you might be able to feel the...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

Tainter's book is not all that thick, but it takes some power reading to get through it. You might try The Upside of Down...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

I want to add to my comment and say that I really did enjoy this conversation. It just got a little thick in one spot for me. But it was very informative and entertaining. I'm a fan of Susan's work...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

Thanks for the tip, Look. I'll read it over the next day or two. While I agree with his executive summary that the "gender war" is a terrible problem, I don't believe it's really the root of the...

Re: The pros and cons of being gal writers

This has been gyno-mania week here on BHTV, what with Hanna Rosen declaring "The End of Men," and Ann Friedman responding with, "No, it's just the end of the male as we know it (and I feel fine)."...

We need a new Oscar category . . .

because there are so many films these days where this (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/30114?in=63:40&out=64:04) is true.

Not to knock Elizabeth's movie before I've seen it. Who could possibly...

Re: A Julia Roberts-Meryl Streep Smackdown (Elizabeth Gilbert & Susan Orlean)

So sad. A quick question for Susan. Was Cooper named for Chris Cooper? He was the quintessential Laroche, I thought. Great character actors make good movies great.

I went looking for Jesus . . .

but he was tied up with his polling team, so I talked awhile with his PR Rep. He told me that Jesus was focus-grouping the Sermon on the Mount with an eye toward sharpening up his eschatological...

Re: Realms of Hazy Phenomenology (Reihan Salam & Lev Grossman)

Good point. The problem with so much high tech energy use is that it seems invisible, or free. Here's an interesting article...

Re: Commenter Court: Fresh-Faced Edition (Robert Wright & Aryeh Cohen-Wade)

I can see I've been totally out of the loop on the Church of the FSM (http://www.venganza.org/). My bad, eb, sorry. :)

Re: Commenter Court: Fresh-Faced Edition (Robert Wright & Aryeh Cohen-Wade)

Funny! One of my oldest songwriting buddies, Chuck McCabe (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/chuckmccabe2), always used to play that song. Haven't heard it since I moved away from the Bay Area.

Re: Heart of stone? Says who?

That's in my diavlog, and I agree that's its pretty funny and honest, but here (http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/29873?in=22:20&out=22:35)'s the link that works on my system. Don't know what's going...
