I had not known this but during one of the debates Cain responded with a poem of sorts that turned out to be a line from the Pokeman tv show theme. It did sounds like a translation from another language.

I think Smith's gauge of the Republican electorate is over-simplified, and he is wrong to pronounce Huntsman dead and Cain dead-on-arrival while pronouncing Perry alive. I want to vote for a not-Romney, but the problem with Perry as the not-Romney is that I'd rather vote for Romney than Perry. Is it time for the wild, unsubstantiated speculation about a brokered convention yet?

Not yet! The polling would suggest it but once the primaries get rolling things may even out a bit. I would put Gingrich, Perry, and Romney as alive. The rest will probably peter out. Perhaps, Huntsman could dark horse it but it is getting late in the game. I think the Libya interview with Cain sunk his ship along with harassment charges and no experience in politics. Of course, the problem is the repubs have no strong contender at this point which keeps the game confusing.

President Obama has a lot to gain from this uncertain republican presidential primary contest with the possible outcome of a weak nominee. However, he will be going into the election with at best a 8.4% unemployment rate, per an article in Barrons on a poll by 50 leading economists, which will be his achilles heel. then there is the possibility that the states that went for him in '08 like Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia may not do so this time around.

With all this in mind it should be a close presidential election.

Every week or two these guys come in and talk about the importance and explaining of Texas politicians on a national stage. Well there's a Texan in the race who's doing extremely well, much better than that third tier candidate Rick Perry, and these guys just ignore him.



Why are we listening to these guys?

I don't understand the Huntsman hate. Do these people read liberal pundits? If they did, they would realize that Huntsman has no moderate positions. The smart liberals can see Huntsman for what he is, why is it that conservative pundits are dumber than Ezra about the stuff they supposedly believe in?

You have a classic case of what Dreher and Friedersdorf pointed out. So sad.
