You're almost certainly in the minority there, but I have to say, it wouldn't be the first time she stormed off after getting called out on her nonsense, and every other time, she has come back, so don't worry yourself overmuch about it.

I think it fits the description rather well. That doesn't mean that badhat is the only smug there is or there will be. But she certainly projects the image of someone who thinks very highly of her accomplishments, and often communicates her disdain for those who haven't similarly succeeded. Or perhaps it's her libertarian schtick coming through in an annoying way.

Well said!

Yes, I certainly agree with that. And I suppose that it might have been better for me to have ignored TSOF in the first place. But sometimes, I feel one has to stand up to troublemakers, and this was one of those times.

I'm with you. I just started feeling guilty as that argument began to dominate the thread. I certainly don't want to imply that anyone was out of line - there's an awful lot of momentum pushing that fight forward and it's easy to forget about context.

Mr "shit on his shoes" needs lots of attention. Ignoring is likely best for most, but his bile requires a constant corrective. And as he smugly boasts of his negative effect in nearly every thread, leaving his tripe to stand unopposed is not wise. If not for your vigilance and determined efforts, these boards could be overrun with his drivel. Thanks for your efforts.

Re: Whatfur's war

God damn it!
I am sooo sad that I wasn't in on the evil plot to keep self-righteousfur up past his beddy bye time.
For future reference it might be nice to open with a link to where the flame war sparked up. My favorite part was where he was projecting the stoic ignorer of the unprovoked lefty attacks, but had only recently taken to attempts at countering them.
For anyone leaning toward buying into this act, you might want to scan his posts over the last years.
Mine are just as bad, but I never claimed any "bias" on this forum.
Note to indignantfur:
The "bias" argument is a huge hole in your righty strategy that makes you look extra delusional, here's why:
I translate my thoughts into english language words, that I then enter into my laptop with a QWERTY physical entry to ASCII interface (keyboard) when I hit the "submit" button on the GUI, the code is sent in HTML "packets" over the internets.
The BHTV server then adds them the the forum listings, and voila!. My rants are available for all to see. Where is the "bias"? If you are talking about a few civility bylaws on this site, then the case you tried to make was weakened by the fact that even those with whom you are ideologically aligned can readily see that probably well over 99% of the stuff sent over the internets is posted here for all to see, and respond to, if they are so inclined.

Perhaps the real problem lies with the fact that so many of the talking points you love to spread, don't hold up well under the logical scrutiny of the other posters ... just a thought.

Next week on "dissecting the victimization of whatfur", we'll examine the concepts of "following" and "piling on" in an open forum, how an extra layer of slime can make a "slippery slope" argument extra slippery, and why squealing like a stuck pig may be counter productive and embarrassing to others who share your ideological bent.
See ya then!

graz 07-11-2010 07:59 PM

A poser and a fraud... regurgitating talking points for fun and profit.

Thanks for the coming attractions... I can hardly wait for that episode.

Apropos your points, any careful reader would concur with your case. But what baffles is that Mr. "shit on his shoes" might believe that his self-proclaimed victimhood is more than a figment of his Beck inspired and Palin perfected schtick.

Too funny.

Interesting you should mention the SOHS, as I was just working on my beater car, and couldn't get the "pants on the ground" song out of my head, except the lyrics were... you guessed it.

As to your points on "belief", I theorize that he believes that if he can get himself to believe it through creative rationalization, then all other "reasonable" people will too. Whereas others believe their cases hinge on believable information, that he probably sees as creative rationalization on their parts. In other words, since his logic works backward from the conclusion, he thinks we are trying to do the same. He even indicts the science community on those same grounds.... fascinating!

Ha! Looks like the feature presentation is actually a fur-troll convention.

Wasn't poor handle just recently pointing fingers and then squawking about his own victimhood at the hands of that big meany fur??? Of course my linking to the actual conversation showing truth lacking, his description of my insults either invented or in want of context...and ultimately showing him be rightfully handed his pointy hat (cap) caused a bit of a backpedal. Can I say "as usual" without sounding too pleased?

Regardless, happy to see trolls relishing the day. Sorry to let you in on the fact that the blood you think you see in the water...(that which brought graz out from the siliceous mud)... was merely chum.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the encouragement. I didn't follow it earlier. I confess I am now at the point where I assume every single link TSOF posts is either to something that, in fact, doesn't support his claims, or is to some wingnut blog that merely regurgitates the same unsupported assertions 'fur treats as gospel.

This one is pathological, because he tries to turn the victim thing around on yours truly, when it is obvious I was merely refuting his claim that the bad lefties always draw first blood. I even came right out said I wasn't whining, in anticipation of this inevitability.
Of course, if I pointed this out to him, he will counter with accusations of back peddling. Somewhat effective in deflecting his mistake, but totally erroneous, and breaks down under minimal scrutiny.
I've tried, but I can't seem to get his imaginary friends to come to his defense. Oh yea, I almost forgot, you lefty jackals chased them all away. At least he got out in front of that criticism.

It's sometimes hard to get the measure of a man or woman on a forum, as opposed to meatspace interaction. I'm coming to the conclusion that your apparent disingenuousness/deflection might stem from a lack of intellect and comprehension, rather than a ploy. If that's the case then my efforts are less satisfying, but essential nonetheless.
