Not sure how many of you out there have heard about the big deal in LA this weekend. One of the major freeways will be shut down for 2 days and everyone here is freaking out! Like this guy (http://www.balloon-juice.com/2011/07/15/its-5-am-and-you-are-listening-to-los-angeles/)!! :)

So what's worse, driving on the 405, or not having the 405 to drive on?

Now THAT is a Zen-like question!

I think that much like the hype about the 84 Olympics traffic (from what natives have told me) it may turn out to be less of a big deal than people predict. Then again, anytime the Prez comes to town traffic get's royally F-d all over the city.

The alternate routes to the 405 are small (2-4 lanes at most) and there really aren't too many good options if you need to go over the hill over on that side of town. I feel bad for my sax player who scheduled her wedding for tomorrow!

We can sling-shoot it from New Jersey.

I'm pretty sure the Pentagon's been developing an intercontinental ballistic T-shirt cannon. Should be a breeze.

I heard about residential parachuted packages. Windy conditions are a bit of a problem though.

So far it's been a breeze. I think the endless hype convinced most to stay off the roads so the freeways and side streets are surprisingly empty.

Good deal. My daughter has to go to traffic school in Simi Valley tomorrow. I'll cancel the helicopter :)

I was on the 101 in Ventura-Oxnard. Nothing going on here.

I thought this (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/07/carmageddon-bicyclists-start-race-jetblue.html)was pretty cool.

Also, lots of nice photos (http://framework.latimes.com/2011/07/15/carmageddon-los-angeles-405-closure/)here.
