The government doesn't allow me to have firecrackers. Freedom. Woo.

Don't blame the federal government. It's state/local law.

I was just kidding. State and local governments also exist, but I'm sure you knew that.

Happy Fourth! If Rob hadn't put Sam the Eagle up, I would have! Touche.

Happy fourth of July
on this ponderous morning,
drinking some joe
when I used to be snoring.

These freedoms we have
like to call the pres red,
or to find libertarians crazy
on ol' bloggingheads,

Are something indeed,
like a lighthouse in fog.
So let us be thankful
whilst scarfing that dog.

Because whatever it means
to say freedom ain't free,
whatever the side,
of the fence you may be,

It's still something grand,
in a world full of jerks,
something quite worthy
of regulated fireworks.

Happy fourth!

I am here by choice, rather than by birth. I am grateful to be here. Happy 4th, all.

Yes, me too. And independence is always something to celebrate. And I love fireworks!

And those of us that aren't here by choice are happy to have you with us. I liked this Jonathan Bernstein post (http://plainblogaboutpolitics.blogspot.com/2011/07/happy-fourth-of-july.html) about the 4th, so I'll pass it on to everybody. Happy Independence Day!

Light a sparkler for me. Congratulations, USA, on your 235 anniversary.

But please, reform your justice system, among other things.
