I'm all for anesthetizing fetuses before we kill them. And circumcised babies - but, probably not killing them. Although if we're talking about lowering levels of pain in the universe, we really ought to start here (http://www.certifiedhumane.org/). Of course, the soul/pain ratio is considerably lower with livestock.
