Best one of the series.

pretty low bar to clear! but I also have been hearing some pretty decent things, haven't had a chance to see it yet.

Pretty good; I still enjoyed the first one a great deal, but the Wolverine abomination pretty much ensured the next one would be better.

They didn't do any violence to any of the main characters (also unlike wolverine; good grief, the deadpool treatment was just nuts). A lot of stuff out of time sequence (Angel wasn't even born at the time the film took place, for one of many examples) but at least the characters remained themselves even if they were pulled and pushed to fit into the narrative.

So, yeah, I think at least tied for best in the series, kind of a low bar, but hey, I take what I can get. :-)

I say X2 was best for me ( haven't seen the latest). The first scene in the White House with Nightcrawler was fantastic and the rest wasn't shabby ( wolverine/deathstrike dustup was a standout from what I remember )

The first 15 or so minutes of the horrible Wolverine Origins was actually pretty good and a great title sequence. They are rebooting spiderman already so maybe if this latest xmen reboot doesn't work we can wait for a 3rd ?

Oh latest xmen directed by Matthew Vaughn, nice. Loved Kick Ass.

I am now firmly in fanboy territory when it comes to Matthew Vaughn. Every movie he has done that I have seen, has been good. Sometimes surprisingly good when I expected a disaster.

Stardust - Kick Ass - and now X-Men : First Class

Mmm I thought Stardust was Sunshine (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448134/) ( Danny Boyle flick - a interesting genre piece, the score by John Murphy always get stuck in my head like in 28 days later did ) for a second when I saw this list.

In any case Startdust rises on the netflix queue.

Yikes there are quite a few more mixes of john murphy scores than I remember seeing last year when I looked up who did the score for Kick Ass :-) Those music geeks have been quite busy.

Yeah Murphy did some other original stuff for kick ass as well as like 3 or 4 other composers : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kick-Ass_(film)#Music

The track "in the house in a heartbeat" from 28 days later was in the the Big Daddy attack in the warehouse and the surface of the sun track was used in "Walking Dead" mini-series ( 5th episode I believe ). Love the music and would love to hear something new as well :D

Hope that Kick ass: balls 2 the wall sequel comes to fruition.

ADDED: The music from Game of Thrones is quite strident as well and quite good. There was a fight scene that had my teeth clenched and just at the end I noticed how the soundtrack added quite a bit to the clenching. Great use of music on that show.
