I'm gonna try to be in the act of commiting as many sins as possible when the clock strikes 11. Murder is out, but there's a whole bunch of others that I should be able to juggle simultaneously...god willing ;)

Apparently not (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/20/us/20rapture.html?pagewanted=all).

Make it two flies, or take a recorder.

When I walk up to the modest headquarters of Family Radio in an industrial area down the street from the Oakland Athletics' ballpark, the first person I encounter is a middle-aged man in a T-shirt opening the barbed-wire gate that encloses the building.

Noticing my notebook, the man looks around to make sure no one else is in the parking lot. He walks over and leans in. "This hasn't come through in the news reports, but I'd say 85 to 90 percent of the staff doesn't believe what Camping says. We're coming to work next week," says the man, who processes mail for Family Radio.

Those sheep won't fleece themselves!

The rest. (http://www.salon.com/news/religion/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2011/05/20/camping_may_21_the_end)

Okay. It's Häagen Dazs chocolate and dulce de leche combination. So much for the low carb diet. But, hey, the rupture is no trivial celebration.

... how hard he refuses to develop self-awareness (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/05/harold-camping-rapture-fails-to-arrive-in-europe-atheist-party-to-begin-in-oakland.html):

... Florida pastor Terry Jones, who has generated controversy by burning, and threatening to burn, the Koran at public demonstrations ... said nobody can predict when Judgment Day will arrive. Those who do are irresponsible, he said.

Let the babbling (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/05/23/BAH01JK1GT.DTL#ixzz1NGQ7ukVx) begin!

The end is still near, radio preacher Harold Camping said in a broadcast Monday night, but the world will be around until Oct. 21.

Camping, the 89-year-old East Bay preacher who gained international fame with his prediction that the rapture would come at 6 p.m. Saturday, said that he misinterpreted the Bible and that May 21 was not really the end of the world but the spiritual beginning of the physical end.

"Were not changing a date at all; we're just learning that we have to be a little more spiritual about this," he said in a rambling 90-minute radio broadcast that was part sermon, part press conference. "But on Oct. 21, the world will be destroyed. It won't be five months of destruction. It will come at once."

Whatevs. Sounds to me like he's trying to buy time, hoping most people will forget about him:

... Family Radio will be taking down its billboards, ceasing distribution of Bible tracts and literature about Judgment Day and focusing its programming on religious music and God's word, not on a countdown to the end.

"We don't need to talk about it anymore," Camping said. "The world has been warned - my it has been warned. We have done our share and the media picked it up. The world has been warned that it is under judgment."

==========

[Added] More from the NYT (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/us/24rapture.html). Camping said "this would be his last interview."

And?

But Mr. Camping said his company — which is a nonprofit — would also not return donations given by his followers in advance of the May 21 prediction. “We’re not at the end,” he said, “Why would we return it?”

I am shocked, shocked.

And we all know darn well how The Lord will be judging those who are ASKING for their donations to be returned, don't we?

A possible explanation -- speculative, we admit, but when you read the whole thing ...

... this might well explain why Jesus did not return as He was scheduled to do last weekend. Paul Ryan/Satan defeated him!

... because you know who ELSE is involved? Cheney (http://wonkette.com/446509/dick-cheney-confirms-that-paul-ryan-is-satan), that's who.
