From my own personal experience it isn't terribly surprising. I edited a couple articles about the Cold War a while back and ended up getting into very tiresome arguments with nitpicking military history buffs. (These articles had very little to do with military history.) I'm not the sort of person to make generalizations about the natures of men and women, but if I were, I would say that technical but heated bullshit arguments about the condition and location of Stalin's tanks before the invasion of the USSR by Hitler is the very last thing that most women would want to get involved in, including me.
