Just a question really. I see new commenters listed. I have noticed that they start with a "Banned" tag. Is there new some sort of probation period? I see "fanny"-something online quite often but so tagged.

They're spammers - that is they've been responsible for posting commercial spam on the site. So far over 2200 of them have been banned. For reasons known only to themselves, a few keep logging on anyway.

Correct. It takes someone with admin authority to delete an account, which, it appears, is the only way to prevent continued logins once an account has been created. "Banning" just prevents that account from being used to post anything new.

Thanks for clarifying. I was concerned that there might be some bias against allowing posters of a certain political persuasion. Phew! Journolist scandal averted.

Probably should repost in this other thread (http://bloggingheads.tv/forum/showthread.php?t=1813).
