I used to listen to most of them every day at work. I donít know why anyone would actually watch them.
Science friday is the best radio show on the planet hands down. Iím blanking the names but they are just awesome.

It all depends on who you watch, John Mcwhorter and Glenn Loury are usually awesome to watchÖ but thatís about it.
And as stated above, science friday tends to be interesting

He compared bhtv to crossfire... NOTHING is/was/ever will be as bad or useless as crossfire.

I like balloon juice a lot - most importantly, they have the proper perspective on things Sullivan. But what's the deal with this post? He's just crapping all over something he admits he knows nothing about.

It's not just a political site - and, Crossfire? Puhleeze.

I'm always pretty surprised by the way bhtv is goofed on by other blogs. I think the list of bloggers who willingly appear here (for free), is very impressive. The span of topics is large while also getting into the weeds in great detail with people who have real expertise. I think most of the negative comments usually fall into two categories: 1.) the commenter can't bear to watch online video (or at least for a full hour.) and 2.) the commenter is a fanatic about their favorite blog (in this case BJ) and a handful of others and anything else is just LAME. I find most of the negative commenters admit right up front that they never gave bhtv much of a chance to begin with.

All your points hit the mark. Commenters -- some never having viewed -- found any association with Mickey Kaus to be discrediting. Go figure. But as Mickey has always told Bob about us: Commenters... what do they know!
We know better, of course (all bhtv forum members included).

P.S. Celtics over LeBron and Shaq... Wha?

and kaus apparently finds any association with bhtv discrediting as well...where the hell is he? (just asking...that's not a request)

it was a great series, and a great game last night. love the espn coverage with Mahhhk Jackson --- "he's gahta put da pedal to da medal"

phx versus orlando in the finals. orlando's finally gonna go all the way.

You really think Phx can beat LA. Note: As a Celts fan and LA resident I would love NOTHING more than seeing LA fail to repeat. But LA has that ability to play defense in a manner that Phx typically cannot overcome in a 7-game series. I'm also not sure O can beat Boston. It's gonna be fun to watch either way.

And John Cole.

That whole conversation about BhTV over there was pretty funny. If a bit sad.

That was thorough and well considered, as usual. Have you cross-posted on an open thread? As much as they (Doug J and most commenters) missed the mark, to me it seems that they mostly took his throwaway post as a chance to show their love for and solidarity with Balloon Juice.

I think Bob could consider presenting your critique of bhtv as a capsule summary (elevator pitch), to woo investors -- and hopefully focus less on the tenor of the commentary.

I have not, but believe it or not, that idea just occurred to me. Last night, I was going to post a link in the comments of that old Balloon Juice post, but I guess they close comments on older posts. I did ping DougJ by email, and he politely acknowledged, but I really wanted to poke the commenters more than him. So, yeah, next time they put up an open thread, I'll try to get in early and post the link. Thanks.

Yeah, that could be true. And as I said in the post, if what one wants is to hang out in a friendly neighborhood bar, as it were, that's entirely legitimate. Not everyone has to like the same things I like.

But of course, that does get a little carried away. It's been fairly astonishing to see the reaction among some of the Wonkette commenters to the news that Jim Newell is going to move over to Gawker -- the trash-talking about the supposed lameness of the Gawker commenters sounds like nothing so much as the People's Front of Judea.

I think Bob could consider presenting your critique of bhtv as a capsule summary (elevator pitch), to woo investors -- and hopefully focus less on the tenor of the commentary.

Thanks again, although I have to say, the idea that my loquacious tendencies (i.e., blabbiness) could ever be called a capsule summary or an elevator pitch has probably given more people laughs than any joke I ever made.

Ah, well. I guess I'd have to call the experiment an epic fail, except that it's not important enough to merit that modifier. Got one long response (from "Steeplejack," which was mostly negative, and not at all original), a few short ones of no significance, and a couple of weak attempts at insults.

I hate to say it, but at this point, the Althouse commenters are superior to the Balloon Juice commenters.

Okay, that goes a little far.

Good effort nonetheless. I just read through the few responders and was sorry that it didn't spark a legitimate assessment or reconsideration of bhtv. It's no real loss, but the misconception remains, imo.

Yes. A few more comments have been added since. Sadly, they do not negate your impression.

On the other hand, I think that the people most likely to respond to something, especially something intentionally provocative as my post was, are the ones who most disagree, or who most take offense. People who are mildly positively moved do not often say anything. So, I will just have to hope that I planted a few seeds, to go along with few comments supporting Bh.tv that others posted in the original Balloon Juice thread.

Master of Understatement. I am thinking of making a collage of the comments (http://www.balloon-juice.com/2010/06/05/open-thread-698/#comment-1812241)over there. The word cloud alone would be raining on a train wreck.

One word. Delusional. Wait...2 words. Embarrassingly delusional. Might be in BHtvs best interest if you did not represent their interest. Thank graz for me for suggesting the wider audience. But hey!!! You still have Wonkette!!!

Might be in BHtvs best interest if you did not represent their interest.

Might be. But so far, that does not appear to be the majority view from people who actually know something about the site. Since you have let me know that you are now regularly lurking on my blog, I trust I do not need to offer you a link.

On another note, I have been waiting since I posted my first comment in this thread to see how you would attempt to take one of your usual weak slaps at me while not simultaneously pissing on the site you now refer to as "your" "blog."

Thanks for the entertainment. Keep 'em coming!

A follow-up: more Bh.tv-hate noted here (http://bloggingheads.tv/forum/showthread.php?p=168284#post168284) and here (http://bloggingheads.tv/forum/showthread.php?p=168286#post168286).

Since my first attempt (http://bloggingheads.tv/forum/showthread.php?p=164098#post164098) at pushing back against those who labor under preconceived notions seemed not to have worked very well, maybe we ought to do a little brainstorming about how to pitch this site to people we'd like to like it, and maybe even to get them to join our community. One obvious problem with my first crack was its excessive length, so the first thing I'd suggest for the next attempt is to come up with some bullet points -- maybe to be distilled into a "Top Ten Reasons Why Bloggingheads.tv is, In Fact, Not Teh Suck" -- that we could post somewhere for future reference while evangelizing.
