I don't remember if it was someone here or someone at some blog or someone elsewhere who said that if this bill passed in Oregon it's good news for the conservatives because it shows the left has gone too far and Oregon is an outlier and if this bill fails in Oregon it's because Americans don't want socialism, even in a liberal state like Oregon.

I'm not going to pretend I know what effect this is going to have on the economy of Oregon, but I will say that when I was growing up in Oregon in the nineties, it seemed like every two years you could count on at least one "Screw the gays" measure sponsored by these clowns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lon_Mabon), whose leader ended up in jail, and at least one "Cut taxes on everything ever" measure sponsored by another guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Sizemore) who I believe also ended up in jail or at least indicted, and every time the first one would go down by a small margin and the second one would win by a small margin, so this is interesting in any case.

The idea is that you're so worked up as you type that your finger momentarily slips off the Shift key when you're typing out the exclamation points. It's basically a way of conveying the kind of unhinged wingnut hysteria that is so typical of today's Republicans.

Occasionally you'll see "!!!!one!!" as if that would even be possible. Or "!!!!!eleven!!"

I stopped listening to Nice Polite Republican news years ago -- I still like a couple of their other programs -- except when I'm in the car and don't feel like listening to CDs or anything else on the radio. There is still the occasional piece of good reporting there, but generally, yes, as you say, you have to wade through way too much saliva from all the tongue baths they give to conservatives, Republicans, and full metal wingnuts.

I'd go on a long rant about this and related matters, but kez has already so perfectly nailed it here (http://bloggingheads.tv/forum/showthread.php?p=148428#post148428) and there (http://bloggingheads.tv/forum/showthread.php?p=148477#post148477) that I'll just link. We're not a center-right nation, but we do have a center-right MSM, and one handful of exceptions aside, those members who might actually be liberal have become unbelievably cowed.

Thank the FSM for the blogosphere, is all I can say.
