This op-ed by Frank Rich in today's NYT is one of the best op-eds I have ever read. It's about, surprise, surprise, the need to reregulate the financial industry. This is the big story that is being neglected by almost everyone, prominently including bhtv.

I would never have guessed that this former NY drama critic would become a truly great political columnist.

...as long as we're submitting Pulitzer nominations, I'll go ahead and throw Jason Whitlock in the pile:

Another great column from the best sports writer in America.

Instead of trying to set up a complicated system of regulations to try and reign in mega-banks, why not just be far more aggressive in the execution of currently existing anti-trust laws?

Why did we let banks get so big? What is there to gain by continuing to allow the existence of mega-banks? Didn't it use to be that banks could not operate across state lines? Who got rid of that?
